Park

These photos were from a few weeks ago when we went on a park dinner date. Pip still loves the swing and Charlie still loves his pizza. On this particular night something quite different happened though. Charlie was willing to go home with strangers. It's really not as serious as that, there ended up being two older girls there playing and he was "playing" with them. Really he was just talking to them and trying to copy what they were doing while they kindly ignored him. He loved it. When it finally came time for the girls to go, Charlie was yelling at them to "wait for me!" when they were running to their car. It was kind of adorable. That still remains to be the only time that Charlie has ever wanted to go home with anybody.
In other news, we bought a house!!! We got the keys on Friday and have been painting non-stop for the past three days and are almost done painting! Painting is going to be the easy part though, we have linoleum, carpet, and cork to scrape off of our hardwoods before we can refinish them. It's going to be a project for sure. Good thing tomorrow is a rest day :)

Greenville Park

On one of the first days that we arrived in Greenville we went to a local park and let the kids run wild. It was Charlie's first time seeing these cousins for a while and he warmed right up to them, especially Brooklynn. They were hand in hand playing all through the playground and he loved it. Taylor was a close second. So he was pretty happy to say in the least.
Isn't he just adorable?
I wish we had one of these at our park!
She wasn't the happiest on the first few days of our trip
See? Hand in hand.

Park date

We went to the park on one of the days that Maggie was over and it was perfect. The weather was nice and the place was empty, which is especially nice for me because Charlie is still very shy around other kids and likes to watch rather than play. But this time was great. Charlie and Maggie would go down the slides over and over again and they played great together. Plus there is an awesome teepee that some neighborhood kids made from sticks and it is awesome. The little kids didn't so much care for it, but it was stuff my childhood dreams were made of. Seriously. I loved it.
SEE?!? Isn't it awesome?

Kid Dates

My favorite thing to do with these two is to head to a coffee shop and then a park. Pip just sleeps through everything so she's easy and Charlie loves to eat ice cubes from his cup. Plus you can always hand him the phone with a Toca Boca game and he is set. So I usually get to drink my iced coffee or latte (don't I sound fancy?). After drinks we head to a park and play for a bit. Charlie is not a huge fan of other kids at the park, but it's still kind of cold enough that not everyone has been to the parks, so it works out great! We're working on it though.

Park Time

The weather has definitely been chillier around here lately and this week it's supposed to get down to the 30s! Ah! Park days may be fewer and fewer but I think we'll still try and bundle up and get out of the house. Charlie loves going down the "lide" and climbing up the play structure any way that he can. I try not to help him so that he only does the ones that he can do on his own, but it sure does make me nervous. He mastered the two scary ones this trip and made some other parents nervous as well. One dad tried to help him at the top, but as soon as he tried Charlie stopped in his tracks and cried. He's a little emotional. He also cried when another child unzipped his sweatshirt. We're working on it though. Just more interaction, right?

The scary one is the one on the right. It's not a parents best friend, but the kids do love 'em.

Swing Time

So I guess this means summer is over, huh? It sure doesn't feel like fall just yet, I give it another month and then I will be layered up with scarves. I am very excited for fall to come, I love the change of seasons. That is one of the reasons that I really enjoy Spokane. You get every season, sure winter is longer than summer (which I'm not a huge fan of) but you get them all. So here's to a happy labor day.
It is the cutest thing the way he hangs onto the swing.

Let's Go for a Bike Ride

I love bike rides. I have missed them so much since last summer, but we just ordered a bike trailer for Charlie and it got here yesterday, so what did we do? Went on a bike ride! It was just a short little ride around our neighborhood and then to a local park. Charlie was supposed to be sleeping but it was just too much excitement for him. Afterwards we enjoyed some piƱa coladas that I made using this recipe. They were good, very strong though. I think I'll stick with mojitos.

Line reminded us that her shoes were off and her feet were very dirty about 50 times. I guess she thought it was a big deal :)

There were many races to the end of the slide with Line.

And about 2 seconds later she had a handful of bark in her mouth. Yum.

Someone fell asleep on the way home.
